The printer is several years old however, I rarely use it. It's only for special print jobs so it is still in excellent condition. It's turned off 99% of the time. It is a KONICA MINOLTA magicolor 2400W with 4 toner cartridges. The ';line'; is approximately 3'; from the left side. It is not actually a ';line';; it is a total absence of toner. I have not investigated because I have no clue as to what I'm doing. Any advise WILL be greatly appreciated. Why does my color lazer printer have a blank line in the printout?
Paul L has basically covered how a laser printer works and one possible problem/solution, but hopefully I can shed some more light on it.
Your printer uses a carousel of 4 toner cartridges, a drum and a transfer belt. Since it appears that all colors are missing, then your toner cartridges are not suspect for the problem. The missing area of toner could be possibly be a result of a bad drum or transfer belt, but more than likely I've seen something like a piece of paper or debris stuck on or in the mechanisms that scrape off the toner as it's applied to the drum or belt or is preventing it from being applied to them by blocking their path. It is also possible that a section of the laser lens window is blocked or dirty preventing the laser from scanning the drum properly to create the image at that location. The User's reference manual covers removal and cleaning of these items. Check them all over carefully. If you don't have yours you can access it here:

Chapter 6 covers the cleaning and maintenance for the printer.
It is also possible that there is something at or just before the fuser that is scraping off the toner from the paper, but you would see smeared or scraped toner in that area, so I don't think that is a concern.
If you don't find anything visibly causing the problem and the cleaning doesn't help, then your last shot would be to replace the drum/transfer belt.
Best of luck. Why does my color lazer printer have a blank line in the printout?
The laser printer works with a ';drum';, on which an electromagnetic charge is applied during the printing process. The charge, which is an image of what you are printing, attracts the toner to it, then as the paper passes by the drum, the image is transferred to the paper. From there, it goes to a fuser roller, which is heated to a high temperature (I think 230 degrees farenheit) to melt the toner and seal it onto the paper before it is delivered to the tray outside the printer.
A line on your output that has no toner usually indicates a problem with the drum. The drum will most likely need to be replaced - and is probably a cartridge that you can change out yourself.
If Konica or Minolta has a website that provides support, you can always check there for more informaiton or to find out the item number you need to order. It probably won't be cheap. If you've had this printer for a few years, it may be time to replace the drum.
Hope this helps.
The cartdridge may be gunked up or not aligned properly. Take the cartridge out, reinsert and prime it, then print test page ..... Align as necessary via instructions for printer
