Which is the best digital camera to take pictures for printing on color laser printer in passport size?

Any digital camera will take more than adequate passport size photos. The problem you will have with using a laser printer is two fold..

1. color laser printers are horrible for color accuracy. Unless your talking mega expensive printers most color printers are intended for printing charts and presentation material and do so well but for reproducing photos they are very very bad...

2. Even if you get a workable color picture from one it would be probably be useless as a passport photo. A lot of government agencies that require passport style photos also require them to be stable when heated because they often lamenate them onto someother document or id card using heat. Color laser prints aren't stable when heated, inkjets are....

I would suggest you look for an inkjet printer and any camera you can find.Which is the best digital camera to take pictures for printing on color laser printer in passport size?
Any digital camera can take the picture that you propose. The converse is where you run into trouble. In other words, only certain digital cameras can take a native 3' x 5' poster sized digital photo. But all of them will take a passport photo size picture.

Some of the newer color laser printers have resolutions that exceed that of your typical ink jet printer, so printing resolution to a newer color laser printer shouldn't be a problem. Especially if the resolution exceeds that of what the eye can discern.

One thing to keep in mind, however. Laser printed documents can be modified with a razor blade. Laser works by applying toner (bw or color) to the surface of the paper. Ink jet works by spraying ink onto the surface, and then it soaks in. Laser toner does not soak in, and can be scratched off with a razor blade, if you're careful. Its a security issue, if that could be an issue for your application.
