The original Lexmark cartridge is not available in the market now-a-days. Some shopkeepers don't even know that Lexmark is a company. Though they insist me on changing the printer, i want to know if there are substitutes for the cartridge.

You should be able to buy the 26 or 27 cartridge in any major store.
Lexmark is still making printers which support these cartridges.
