Color printer?

I am in the market for my employer, a small sheriff's office, a color printer. I had an 800 series deskjet but it has finally gone south. $$$ is an issue but I will use it for: printing reports, printing color photos, and copying. The photos need to be good enough to use in court. Any suggestions?Color printer?
Xerox C2424 Multi-function

or a straight Xerox 8550 PhaserColor printer?
What I would do, is look into either a Ricoh Aficio series color copier, or a Canon imageRUNNER series color copier. The low end copiers in both series are what is called color on demand. They are basically a black and white copier, that has the capability of doing small color jobs. Both units are multifunction in design, so you can get one with fax, print , and coping ability. Most copier companies have the ability to lease them, for very little cents per copy, and they will maintain them. The contracts usually works like a cell phone contract. For a monthly charge, you get so many copies, plus a charge per copy over. I hope this helps. Good Luck.
Check to see if the court has a list of approved printers. There must be some standards that need to be met for use in court and that should be your deciding factor.
HPmOfficejet k550 gives prints almost as good as a laser. Cost less than $200. I had rebates and it may still have.
